Brett is a patent attorney and a partner in the firm’s Seattle office. Brett focuses on developing comprehensive intellectual property strategies that result in the generation of strategic intellectual property assets that are tailored to his client’s business objectives. Brett’s practice includes the preparation, prosecution, and management of domestic and international patent applications. Having previously practiced in patent litigation for nearly three years prior to joining Lee & Hayes, Brett possesses a broad, diverse, and unique experience that allows him to create and obtain strategic patent assets.

Brett also assists clients in the analysis of patent assets, such as, for example, by preparing infringement, invalidity, and freedom to operate opinions, taxonomies, and landscapes, as well as by engaging in patent licensing. Over the course of his career, Brett has developed expertise in a wide variety of technologies, including automotive, consumer electronics, computer software and hardware, e-commerce, mechanical devices, and telecommunications technologies.

Brett currently serves as the chair of the firm’s hiring committee, as well being a member of the leadership team of the Seattle office. Outside of Lee & Hayes, Brett enjoys golfing, skiing, hiking, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
