Steve Philbin

Steve is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on litigation of all types of intellectual property matters. Steve has extensive experience litigating patent disputes, including through trial. He also works on post-grant proceedings, including inter partes review (IPR) and patent reexaminations. With a background in physics, Steve is comfortable with a wide range of technology areas. Steve also has substantial experience litigating trademark disputes, both at the TTAB and in federal courts. Through those cases, Steve has gained specialized experience and interest in trademark and false advertising survey methodologies. Steve also has experience with UDRP proceedings, having successfully transferred multiple domain names to his clients.
In addition to his experience litigating patent and trademark matters, Steve has experience with complex commercial disputes including trade secret misappropriation, false advertising, breaches of contract, breaches of fiduciary duties, and government investigations under the False Claims Act. Relying on his broad litigation experience, Steve counsels clients on analyzing litigation risks and strategies to avoid those risks.
Prior to joining Lee & Hayes, Steve gained valuable hands-on experience at an elite IP boutique. Working directly with partners from highly respected, largescale law firms, he learned how to litigate cases at a high level with a lean team.
In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, playing utlimate frisbee, and fostering dogs.
