Kai brings a valuable combination of hands-on field experience and a background in mechanical engineering, giving clients a well-rounded perspective essential to building strategic, high-quality patent portfolios. 

He offers solid and diverse field experience, spanning challenging environments such as difficult-access drilling and geotechnical remediation, to advanced manufacturing settings including aerospace liquid-cooled computer systems.

Kai’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a broad scope of technologies that include a range of packaging solutions in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and personal care industries; commercial product automation processing equipment; medical devices; thermal management systems; diesel engine heating systems and methods; and difficult access drilling systems and methods. 

Prior to joining the firm, Kai worked for four years as a Mechanical Engineer with an engineering company, where his work consisted primarily of design and manufacturing of liquid-cooled aerospace computers, with an emphasis on manufacturing. In addition to mechanical engineering, Kai worked for seven years as a Geologist.
