Eric is a partner and practice group lead in Lee & Hayes’ patent practice. He advises and assists clients on a wide variety of intellectual property matters including counseling clients on strategies for protecting their innovations and identifying opportunities to strengthen their IP portfolios. His practice mainly focuses on the drafting and prosecution of patent applications, ensuring that each application is tailored to meet the client’s business goals and complies with relevant legal standards.

His technical experience and knowledge span several key areas of engineering and technology. He has a strong background in networking and networking protocols, network security, cloud systems, micro-electronics, power-systems, signal processing, and analog circuit design. In addition, he has in-depth knowledge of both computer software and hardware architecture, enabling him to understand and evaluate complex computing systems. 

Eric is equally knowledgeable in the design and testing of advanced fault-detection devices, which play a critical role in identifying and isolating faults within electrical systems to maintain grid reliability and safety. His experience also includes working with communication devices tailored for the electric utility industry, ensuring seamless and secure data transmission between system components. This combined expertise allows him to contribute to the development of robust, efficient, and intelligent solutions that support modern power infrastructure.

In Eric’s spare time he enjoys snow skiing, cycling, running, and backpacking.
