Spokane, Wash. – October 12, 2015 – Lee & Hayes is pleased to announce the election of four partners in its offices in Spokane, Washington; Seattle, Washington; Washington, D.C.; and Atlanta, Georgia. The firm, headquartered in Spokane, includes 156 professionals, 89 of whom are attorneys located across the firm’s seven U.S. offices.

  • Dan Wadkins is now a partner in the firm’s Spokane office. He has been with Lee & Hayes since 2009 and is a part of the firm’s corporate practice group, trademark practice group, licensing practice group and wine, beer and spirits practice group. Wadkins has a passion for helping startups and emerging companies navigate the complex business and legal landscape, assisting clients in every stage of the business lifecycle, from formation and financing to a successful exit.  He regularly advises in the areas of corporate, securities and financing, trademark and brand protection, intellectual property protection and commercialization, wine and beverage law, and commercial transactions. Outside of work, Wadkins is active in several local and charitable organizations by serving as a member of the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest and as a member of the advisory board for Gonzaga’s New Venture Lab and Gonzaga’s Entrepreneurship Advisory Board. He holds his Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University School of Law.
  • Jacob Rohwer is now a partner in the firm’s Seattle office. Rohwer’s practice is focused on drafting and prosecuting patent applications. His technical expertise includes computer software, wireless and network related systems, mobile applications and mechanical/electrical devices. Prior to joining Lee & Hayes, Rohwer worked as a patent examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office, where he examined U.S. and PCT patent applications related to image processing, network communications and peripheral device drivers. Rohwer received his Juris Doctor from the Seattle University School of Law.
  • Sung Kim is now a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Kim advises clients in many areas of intellectual property law, including strategic patent portfolio development and claims analysis, patent infringement and validity, and patent prosecution.  Prior to joining Lee & Hayes, Kim worked as an in-house attorney in the patent group at Microsoft Corporation for eight years. As a senior attorney at Microsoft, he provided client counseling on patent matters, managed patent portfolios for various business divisions, conducted and managed patent analysis studies, supervised outside counsel in patent preparation and prosecution, and developed and led an intensive training program on U.S. patent prosecution.Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland.
  • Robert “Rob” Madayag III is now a partner in the firm’s Atlanta office. Madayag has broad experience in intellectual property law, working with both established and emerging companies. He has prepared and prosecuted patents in a variety of technology areas including electrical devices, logistics, nanotechnology, software, mechanical systems, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications. Beyond his patent expertise, Madayag has extensive experience drafting and negotiating all manners of intellectual property agreements and licenses, drafting intellectual property opinions of counsel, securing and enforcing copyright and trademark assets, helping establish and enforce trade secrets, and performing intellectual property due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. Madayag received his Juris Doctor at Villanova Law School.
