Patent Prosecution Paralegal (Hybrid in Seattle or Remote) |

We are seeking experienced patent prosecution paralegals who are self-starters, comfortable working independently, and committed to high-quality client service. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities are important for success in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Experience with USPTO systems and resources, i.e., Patent Center, WIPO, and international databases
- Proficient in working with legal and IP-specific software, e.g., EFS-Web, PCT-SAFE, ePCT, etc.
- Experience in preparing, reviewing and filing PTO communications including, but not limited to, new Applications, Office Action responses,
- Information Disclosure Statements, Assignments and related ownership transfers, etc.
- Review daily docket deadlines and send reminders to attorneys and/or clients related to those deadlines
- Order documents, file histories, certified copies, etc.
- Maintain current knowledge of all domestic and foreign IP rules and procedures
- Assist other Patent Paralegals with overflow work and provide backup support during vacations, leaves of absence, etc.
- Participate in process improvements and special projects as the firm continues evolving its docketing and workflow systems
EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED
- AA or BA/BS degree preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Intellectual Property legal terminology
- Ability to concentrate for lengthy periods of time while maintaining a focus on detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and routine responsibilities on a daily basis and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with a varied audience, including all levels of firm employees, vendors, clients, etc.
- Ability to learn and manage multiple client guidelines and databases
- This position is largely sedentary, requiring the routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment.
- Strong desire and aptitude for learning new concepts
- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The annualized salary range for this position in Washington is $80,000 to $115,000. The base salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, market factors, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
