Payroll and Benefits Specialist - Spokane, Washington

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for processing employee payroll and assisting with the administration of all benefit programs. 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and process multi-state payroll for approximately 150 hourly and salaried employees, including verifying timekeeping data; processing changes in rates, status, voluntary and involuntary deductions, electronic funds transfers, taxes, etc.
  • Review quarterly and annual payroll tax reports to ensure accurate and timely processing of W2s and annual ACA reporting. 
  • Track all leaves of absence in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assist with benefits administration, including Open Enrollments, New Enrollments, Life Events, and Wellness initiatives. 
  • Answer employee benefits questions, resolve problems, process forms, changes, termination of coverages and special requests.
  • Administer COBRA enrollments and respond to unemployment claims 
  • Verify monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives. 
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices.
  • Provide Payroll and Benefits onboarding to new hires, assist with benefits enrollment, train non-exempt employees on timekeeping system, etc.
  • Develop and maintain customized reports from the payroll system and other databases.
  • Assist with other HR related tasks such as maintaining employee records, data collection, EEO reports, etc. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or another related field.
  • Two or more years of experience processing multi-state payroll, benefits programs, or any combinations of relevant education or training sufficient to demonstrate knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties listed above. 
  • Must have excellent oral/written communication skills and be comfortable effectively interfacing, with all levels of Firm management, attorneys and staff.
  • Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with great attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality. 
  • Intermediate to advance in Microsoft office suite.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with superior organizational skills. 
  • Experience using Paylocity a plus but not necessary.
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
