The desired candidate will be able to work independently and with other analysts and attorneys to provide the firm's clients with knowledge about patent portfolios, competitive landscapes, patent trends, business analytics and strategic IP planning.  The candidate should be a curious, creative problem solver capable of taking high-level direction, asking pertinent questions, developing a project plan, and refining the project plan based on feedback from internal and client stakeholders to generate the final work product to be presented the firm's clients.

Requirements

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Analysis of patents, companies, inventors and emerging technologies using a suite of patent, litigation, visualization and statistical analysis programs.
  • Organize deliverables to provide informed recommendations to legal counsel and senior management.
  • Provide regular reports and communications to others within the firm regarding findings and project status.
  • Perform prior art searches and assist with comprehensive clearance search reports documenting complete search history.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelors degree or higher in science, engineering, computer science, math, statistics, data science, or other related discipline.
  • 1-3 years patent related experience (as a Technical Specialist or Agent)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proficiency with database programs such as SQL and SSRS and comfort with relational databases
  • Ability and willingness to learn new search, analysis, and visualization software packages
  • Strong written, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Assist attorneys in preparing pleadings, including creating Table of Contents, Table of Authorities, fileable exhibits to pleadings and motions, and proposed orders, ensuring all documents conform to local jurisdictional rules.
  • Responsible for court filings in multiple jurisdictions, including state courts, federal district courts, courts of appeal, USPTO, and TTAB.
  • Thorough understanding of court rules and filing requirements and knowledge of Pacer and ECF filing procedures.
