Tyson’s practice focuses on counseling clients on a variety of aspects of building intellectual property portfolios in the context of each client’s business objectives. He is well versed in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, analyzing intellectual property portfolios and landscapes, and monetizing intellectual property assets. Tyson works with a wide array of companies, from small start-ups to large international companies. Tyson has extensive experience in technology areas including consumer electronics, computer software and hardware, e-commerce, telecommunication, semiconductor technologies, image processing, smart grid, data compression, computer vision, natural language processing, augmented reality, financial products, business methods, signal processing, data analysis, and mechanical devices. Prior to joining Lee & Hayes, Tyson worked at a large law firm in Virginia, focusing on patent preparation and prosecution. Tyson has also worked at the Brigham Young University Technology Transfer Office, where he evaluated copyright issues, performed patentability searches, drafted licensing agreements, and worked with professors regarding their inventions.
