Kenneth (Ken) Xie is a patent attorney based in the firm’s Seattle office. Ken’s practice focuses on patent procurement, portfolio management, and IP due diligence. Ken also has experience in IP litigation and provides patent invalidity and non-infringement opinions and clearance and freedom-to-operate studies. Ken has represented both domestic and foreign clients in industries including computer hardware and software, automotive, consumer electronics, Internet technologies, e-commerce, gaming, and telecommunications. Fluent in Mandarin, Ken travels to China frequently to advise Chinese companies on a wide range of IP topics.

Most recently, Ken served as the Global Head of IP at a U.S. based electric vehicle company, leading the efforts of building the company’s IP portfolio and defending its IP rights. As the company’s top IP attorney, Ken developed worldwide IP strategies tailored to the company’s long-term business needs and advised company executives on all IP-related issues.

Prior to his in-house tenure, Ken practiced at two large international law firms for over ten years. Before entering the legal profession, Ken was a software consultant for a number of years and a founding member of an Internet start-up company.
