Rick White has a public reputation for policy expertise, integrity, and fairness. He was profiled in seven articles by Wall Street Journal and named one of “25 Most Intriguing Minds of the New Economy” by Business 2.0. Rick joins Lee & Hayes to manage the emerging public policy/governmental affairs practice.

In 1994 Rick was elected to Congress, representing Washington's 1st Congressional District. Rick served on both the Commerce Committee and the Subcommittee on Technology. He played a pivotal role in drafting the internet language in the Telecommunications Act of 1996. He was the founder of the Congressional Internet Caucus. In essence, Rick became the “go to” person in Congress on technology related issues during the mid to late 90s, which was a critical period.

In 1999 Rick became the CEO of a national technology lobbying organization called Technet. Technet's Board of Directors includes a who's who of technology CEOs from around the country. He then continued his focus on technology policy by joining the Woodbay Group, a consulting firm.

Rick currently serves on the board of directors of Motricity, Inc., the leading provider of content and media for handheld devices. He is a member of the Markle Foundation's Task Force on National Security in the Information Age, and serves on the Council of American Politics and the Institute for Politics, Democracy, and the Internet at George Washington University. He also serves on the board of directors of Stewardship Partners, a Seattle-based environmental group dedicated to helping landowners protect the environment. Prior to running for Congress, he founded and served on the board of “Books for Kids,” a literacy program that provides free books to at-risk children.
