David is a partner in the firm’s Spokane office, where he specializes in developing comprehensive intellectual property strategies that give companies a competitive advantage in the marketplace. David has extensive experience counseling clients on all aspects of building global portfolios strategic to their business objectives, monetizing intellectual property assets, analyzing competitive landscapes, and providing business solutions to legal problems.
In the course of his 10 year career, David has developed expertise in a wide variety of technologies, including medical devices, clean energy technologies, consumer electronics, computer software and hardware, e-commerce technologies, semiconductor fabrication, and telecommunications technologies. This range of experience gives David a breadth of understanding to draw from when approaching unique situations.
David is very familiar with the nuances of prosecuting patent applications through the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, having served as a Patent Examiner prior to joining Lee & Hayes. The insight gained from working as a Patent Examiner has allowed David to more efficiently prosecute applications through the patent office, minimizing costs to his clients.
David was recently named in Washington State Super Lawyers®, Rising Stars Edition for 2010, an honor given to no more than 2.5% of the lawyers in the state.
In addition to his legal career, David is active in his local community through involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, the local chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Inland Northwest Leadership Council.
