Colin assists clients on a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including assessing needs of clients and providing advice on appropriate, cost-effective levels of intellectual property protection. He is experienced in drafting and prosecuting US and international patent applications on a wide variety of technologies, including computer science, software, networks, storage systems, databases, communication devices, medical devices, semiconductors, and general mechanical arts. He also has experience preparing and prosecuting trademark and service mark applications, preparing licensing agreements, and preparing validity, infringement and clearance opinions.
Before joining Lee & Hayes, Colin was Of Counsel for a firm in Alexandria, VA, and prior to that, he was a partner at an intellectual property firm in Arlington, VA.
In addition, prior to attending law school, he gained engineering experience working at the Kennedy Space Center designing ground-support and launch-pad equipment for the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and the Delta II Rocket.
