Colin has over fifteen years experience as an attorney in intellectual property law in areas including US and international patent preparation and prosecution; trademark prosecution; preparing validity, infringement and clearance opinions; and client counseling, including licensing, portfolio analysis and intellectual property transfers.
He has extensive experience in the procurement of patents involving the following technology areas: Computer Science, Software, Networks, Storage Systems, Databases, Medical Devices, Semiconductors, and General Mechanical Arts.
Before joining Lee & Hayes, Colin was of counsel at Mattingly, Stanger, Malur & Brundidge, PC, in Alexandria, Virginia, and prior to that, he was a partner at the intellectual property firm of Jones, Tullar & Cooper, PC. At the Kennedy Space Center, prior to attending law school, he gained engineering experience designing ground-support and launch-pad equipment for the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and the Delta II Rocket.
