Andy specializes in client counseling as well as domestic and foreign patent prosecution in the fields of electronics/electrical engineering, software and mechanical engineering. He has extensive experience with legal opinion work and patent prosecution of matters in the areas of analog and digital circuitry, wireless communication, computer networking, DRAM, flash memory, software, medical device, semiconductor fabrication and MEMS technology.
His professional background covers a broad range of industries from being an engineering intern at IBM Corporation to serving five years as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Propulsion Officer on the USS California (CGN 36), where he supervised the upkeep and operation of the nuclear reactor plant equipment and systems. Andy was also employed at several high-tech companies, including Applied Materials, Trimble Navigation, Marimba and Cisco Systems, where he designed and improved flow sensing circuitry and gas lines for chip-fabrication equipment, developed technical specifications for in-vehicle GPS chipset and for JAVA-based enterprise-level change management software. Andy also developed product requirements for IEEE 802.11b/g-capable and VoIP-enabled broadband cable router and for cable network management software.
